Miami Teen Arrested For Alleged Robbery

MIAMI (CBS4) - A Miami teen was arrested after turning himself in for an alleged robbery which left an elderly woman in the hospital.

The alleged robber,13, was brought by his mother, confessed to the crime and has been charged with one count of sudden snatch/strong arm robbery and battery on the elderly.

CBSMiami.com has decided not to identify the suspect because of his age.

The incident occurred on June 25, 2011 while Beatriz Nunez,77, exited the Metrorail Station at Northwest 1st avenue and Northwest 6th Street. Nunez told police she was pushed by a young man who snatched her purse and ran off, leaving her bloodied on the ground. A nearby surveillance camera caught a blurry image of the suspect as he ran off.

Nunez was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where she was treated for bumps, bruises, and a broken arm. She has returned home and is still recovering.

Anyone with any additional information should call Miami Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
