Fla. Mom Arrested For Leaving Kids Alone While Job Hunting
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (CBS4) A 31-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly leaving her two young children home alone while she went to look for a job, according to Winter Haven Police.
The two children were spotted at an apartment complex alone, and officers were called Tuesday. Police arrived and said they found poor living conditions inside the apartment and minimal food in the refrigerator. The children were taken to the Police Department and the state Division of Children and Families was notified.
As an officer was leaving the property about noon, the mother, Antoinette Shorter, returned home where she was arrested. Police said the children had been left alone since 6 a.m. when Shorter went with a friend to look for a job.
