HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) – A Sunny Isles six year old who was run down while riding his bike last Friday night is slowly improving.

Jacob Shaked was struck while riding in his gated community.  The driver of the car took off and police are still searching for him.

According to his uncle who met with the media at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Monday afternoon, Jacob has two fractures to his skull and a broken leg.

Sagi Shaked says his nephew is still in critical condition but is responding to relatives.  He expects he will make a full recovery.

But the family still wants justice and the driver caught.

“I don’t know how a human being can do that to another person let alone a kid, leaving him in the street, it still troubles me,” said Sagi Shaked.

The family has hired a private investigator who is working with Sunny Isles Police.

Shaked says there is surveillance video showing the hit and run as it happened.
