Fins Re-Sign RB Larry Johnson

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Fans continue to worry about the Miami Dolphins running back corps after Larry Johnson was re-signed to backup starting running back Reggie Bush.

Johnson has essentially been out of football for the last year, but displayed a nose for the end zone in the final preseason game when he rushed for 39 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown.

Johnson was signed because backup running back Daniel Thomas is out with a hamstring injury.

Thomas was held out of practice Thursday due to the injury.

Thomas has struggled in the preseason with Fins head coach Tony Sparano having to chew the running back out when he wasn't hitting the holes fast enough or hard enough.

Johnson has averaged more than four yards per carry in his career, with his most productive years coming from 2005-2006. While more of a power back, he can catch the ball out of the backfield. Johnson's had four seasons with at least 22 catches in his career.

For Johnson, it's his latest attempt at a comeback after failing in Cincinnati and Washington.

Johnson's status with the team will be determined after Thomas recovers from his injury.
