Spinning Taking Hold At Local Gyms

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Kids have long had fun spinning around, but adults are getting in on the spinning action.

Spinning involves riding stationary bikes while listening to music. Spin instructors say that the exercise biking is not just for the body, but also the mind.

"I think when we have 15 twenty people, the energy of everyone gets better," said Raul Duarte, a certified spinning instructor.

Biscayne Boxing in Miami is packing a punch by spinning its wheels. Duarte is one of the spin instructors at Biscayne Boxing and hopes his eccentric teaching style will inspire others. And the best part is that Wednesday nights through September, Duarte's classes are free.

"Give yourself at least month doing it twice a week. You will develop your legs, your heart and then it becomes like nothing," said Duarte to CBS4's Jorge Estevez in an interview before class.

So whether you are speed racing, high-jumping, or going uphill, it's clearly a great workout.

"Any age any physical condition, this is it," said one cyclist.

"It is the best sweat in the world," said one woman in the class.
