New Golden Beach Police Chief Named

GOLDEN BEACH (CBS4) – A former Miami Beach police chief has been named to lead the Golden Beach police department as the 25-member department recovers from its tarnished image after three of its officers were arrested.

The new police chief Donald DeLucca will oversee the police department that serves approximately 1,200 residents who live in the posh town nestled between Sunny Isles Beach and Hallandale Beach.

The announcement was made Friday. The town's former police chief, Jim Skinner, resigned in May and has since been reassigned to work in the Town Manager's administrative office.

The new police chief would receive a salary that ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 per year.

Officers Yovany Diaz, 33; Omar Paez, 41 and Sgt. Lyndean Peters are all facing one count of organized scheme to defraud.

Additionally, Peters faces one count of grand theft, one count of insurance fraud and multiple counts of official misconduct.

All three men have been released on bond while they await trial.
