Woman Charged After Young Son Spotted Hanging Out Of 2nd Story Window

ORLANDO (CBS4) – An Orlando area woman was charged with child neglect after her young son was spotted hanging out the window of their second-story apartment while home alone.

The Orlando Sentinel reports deputies said the boy pushed out the window's screen and was hanging perilously over the ledge.

Authorities knocked on the apartment door and were told by the boy that he couldn't open the door for anyone and that his mother, 25-year-old Shelly Louis, was at work.

According to an arrest report, Louis returned from work and was hysterical, saying she didn't have anyone to leave the boy with while she went to work.

The Department of Children and Families took custody of the boy. His age was not released.
