Fire Rips Through Cooper City Home

COOPER CITY (CBS4) – Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews made quick work out of a house fire in Cooper City.

Just after 1 p.m. Sunday neighbors called 911 after seeing flames coming from a home in the 5100 block of SW 87th Terrace. Sheriff's spokesman Mike Jachles said the first arriving battalion chief was on scene in less than three minutes. He reported heavy smoke coming from the closed-up single-story, single family home and flames inside.

Arriving firefighters immediately went inside to begin to fight the flames as they did two extensive searches – no one was found inside.

Jachles said it took about 20 minutes to knock the fire down. The Broward Sheriff Fire Marshal's Bureau and the State Fire Marshal are investigating. No injuries were reported.
