Recruit Says Mike Leach Coming To FAU

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Florida Atlantic University is set to open their new stadium as a swan song for legendary head coach Howard Schnellenberger. The former University of Miami coach will retire at the end of the season leaving big shoes to fill for the Owls.

According to recruit Chad Ward, he thinks the next head coach at FAU will be former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The former Red Raiders coach has been out of work since a campaign led by ESPN's Craig James cost him his job at Texas Tech.

For a recruit like Ward, who is a wide receiver, seeing Leach come to town would be like hitting the lottery. Leach's offense is consistently one of the most prolific in the country when it comes to throwing the football.

Leach would bring a big-name to the sidelines to take over for Schnellenberger, but so far it's only Ward who has put Leach together with FAU.
