Meat Co. Recalls Beef In Florida, 6 Other States

DODGE CITY, Kan. (CBS4) – A Kansas meat packaging company has recalled more than 60,000 pounds of ground beef sold mainly in Florida and six other southern states over possible E. coli contamination.

The recall affects meat sold to Winn-Dixie Stores Inc., Publix Super Markets Inc. and Kroger Co. from meat from National Beef Packaging Co. of Dodge City.

National Beef issued the recall after the Ohio Department of Agriculture found the bacteria. The company said it's investigating.

The U.S. Agriculture Department said there have been no reports of illnesses.

E. coli can be deadly and can cause bloody diarrhea and other problems.
