Get Inked, Pierced At Florida Tattoo Expo

CORAL SPRINGS (CBS4)- Hundreds of tattoo artists, vendors and enthusiasts are gathering this weekend at the 16th annual Florida Tattoo Expo in Coral Springs, and it's also for a good cause.

The expo, which began Friday and will conclude Sunday, features everything related to the eye-popping fleshly art. More than 100 artists and vendors are in attendance at the Marriott Coral Springs Hotel located at 11775 Heron Bay Blvd. to apply custom artwork to ink lovers.

On the schedule: Adult fetish shows and suspension displays, in which hooks are applied through the skin before hanging from chains. A hot rod car show will be held on Sunday and enjoy live music throughout the weekend.

The event has an adult theme. No one under 16 will be allowed without a grownup. Those under 18 who wish to get inked or pierced require a parent's consent.

Proceeds from the all-volunteer expo will benefit the Children's Cancer Treatment Center at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. Since it started, the expo raised more than $400,000 for the center.

The expo, which began at noon Saturday, will conclude at 1 a.m., and Sunday hours are from noon to 7 p.m. Admission is $20 a day. For more information, visit floridatattooexpo.com. There is also a 24-hour Expo Info Line: 954-343-5585
