Jason Taylor Rejoins Dolphins

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Miami Dolphins needed depth at the outside linebacker position heading into the 2011 season. So, the Fins have turned to a fan-favorite player to give Cameron Wake and Koa Misi rest.

The Dolphins have signed outside linebacker Jason Taylor to a free agent deal.  Taylor, who is in his 15th season in the NFL, spent all but two season in the league with the Dolphins.

The last time Taylor was with the Fins was in 2009 when he started 15 games at outside linebacker. Last season with the Jets, he was more of a backup, but still recorded 36 tackles and 5 sacks, along with 6 passes defensed.

Taylor will likely be the backup to Wake and Misi, but his value will be on obvious passing downs. Taylor can still get after the passer and his ability to defend against the pass gives the Fins another wrinkle in their defensive scheme.

Plus, giving the Fins an extra pass rusher is always something this regime is looking for.

Taylor will join linebacker Jason Trusnik as backups in the linebacking corps. Trusnik was signed last week on the first day of free agency. Trusnik spent the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
