August 22nd is the first official day of the new school year in Miami-Dade, but thanks to all the sponsors the students were prepared Friday even if they're not ready to get back to work.

"I can take notes when I go to school," one student said.

"And you're excited to take notes do homework? CBS4's Vanessa Borge asked.

"Not homework. Definitely not homework," the student replied.

Mayor Tomas Regalado, city and county commissioners and City of Miami employees made sure the children most in need in the community went home stress free.

"This is about giving kids the tools necessary. There are some students who are more challenged so this is to help them to be more competitive in school," Sarnoff said.
