Dolphins Ink Second-Round Pick Daniel Thomas
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Miami Dolphins acquired running back Reggie Bush Thursday, and Friday, the team signed his backfield mate, rookie Daniel Thomas.
The details of Thomas' contract weren't released and he missed the team's first preseason practice as his contract terms were finalized. The Dolphins traded up in the second round to draft Thomas, who played his college ball at Kansas State University.
Thomas was a workhorse running back for the Wildcats and essentially the team's only offensive weapon. Even though Big XII defenses stacked the box to stop him, Thomas still ran for 2,850 yards in just two seasons with KSU. He also caught 52 passes for 428 yards. He had 30 rushing touchdowns.
Thomas will compete for carries in the backfield with Bush. Thomas could become the thunder to Reggie Bush's lightning for the Fins offense.
