Drugs Found In Home Of Woman Accused Of Killing Teens

TAMPA (CBS4) – More than a dozen different prescription drug bottles were reportedly found in the Tampa home of a 50-year-old woman accused of killing her two teenagers in January.

According to court documents released on Monday, police collected 14 pill bottles for medications prescribed to Julie Schenecker. They included lithium, used to treat bipolar disorder, and empty bottles for the strong painkillers oxycodone and hydrocodone. Anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills were among the other drugs found in her bedroom after the slayings.

Schenecker is accused of killing their 16-year-old daughter Calyx and 13-year-old son Beau by shooting them in the head. Police have not said to what extent Julie Schenecker's possible drug abuse may have been a factor. Friends told investigators she had been in drug rehabilitation shortly before the shootings.
