2 Taken To Hospital After Crash, Car Fire

HOMESTEAD (CBS4)- Two people were taken to the hospital, with one air lifted, Saturday after one of the cars was engulfed when it was rear ended on the Florida Turnpike.

According to Roger Reyes of the Florida Highway Patrol, the person's car was involved in a crash with another car and was rear ended on the Florida Turnpike extension northbound near mile marker 34.

That car caught on fire. The driver of the rear ended car was air lifted to the Ryder Trauma Center suffering from burns.

The driver in the other vehicle was transported to Hollywood Memorial West, according to Reyes.

There were no passengers in both vehicles.
