More Couples Say "I Do" To Wedding Planning Apps

MIAMI (CBS4) -- Planning a wedding can easily have a bride tied up in knots. From finding a dream dress to locking down the reception venue, the details are endless. So if a happy couple needs some help, there's an app for that!

The wedding date is set. The photographer is booked. Now bride-to-be Rebecca Lysen has to finish planning the party.

"There's so many little things, and you have one time to get it right," said Lysen.

To help stay organized, Rebecca doesn't reach for a chunky wedding binder, she reaches for her smart phone.

Today a range of wedding planning applications are available for mobile devices. They vow to help with everything from picking out wedding rings to decorating the venue.

"They're there for brides on-the-go, so that they can plan their wedding whenever they want and however they want," explained Anja Winikka of the wedding planning website TheKnot.com.

For example, both The Brides Wedding Genius and The Wedding Dress Look Book allow brides to browse wedding gowns by price, designer and silhouette.

If finding a ring is your thing, The Tiffany Ring Finder comes packed with a slew of sparkling ideas and it's great for the guys too.

"All he has to do is get a hold of one of your current rings, put it right down on the iPhone, and he can actually get your wedding ring size," said Sally Kilbridge of Brides Magazine.

When it comes to decorations, Color-Toy can help and for all of the finishing touches there's Etsy Addict.

Kilbridge said, "Etsy Addict puts the world's largest marketplace of handcrafted items into your pocket. So if you're looking for a peacock feather boutonniere, or a ring pillow made out of moss," you can find it.

Other apps like My Mobile Checklist promise to help you stay on top of your to-do's and Wedding 911 is a virtual message board and support system.

These apps range in price from free to $2.99 and they're all easy to use.
