Two Killed, Two Injured In Miami Drive-By Shooting

MIAMI (CBS4) – Just hours after a Miami teen was shot in front of his apartment building, two people were killed and two others were injured in a drive-by shooting.

According to Miami police, the drive-by shooting happened around midnight at 54th Street and 5th Avenue. A male, believed to be in his late teens to early 20s, and a 17-year old girl were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center in extremely critical condition, according to Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll. Two others died on the scene.

Police spokesman Detective William Moreno said they believe there were two shooters involved and the vehicle was described as a "dark colored mid-size vehicle."

"These are individuals who are extremely dangerous, they have no regard for life and we need to bring them to justice," said Moreno.

Saturday afternoon, a 15-year-old Shabazz Newman was shot by three men in front of his Liberty City apartment building in the 1400 block of NW 60th Street. Witnesses said the teen managed to run across the street and up the stairs of the building despite his injuries. He collapsed near his front door. He was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

Friends said Newman is a good kid and didn't deserve this.

"I hope the boys whoever did it, they get punished for that, go to jail," said 15-year-old Tameisha Moblui, Newman's friend.
