ALDI Goes On South Florida Hiring Spree

MIAMI (CBS4) - Discount grocer ALDI is looking for a few good men and women to work in their stores in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

On Thursday, a hiring event will be held at the Hilton-Deerfield Beach, located at 100 Fairway Drive in Deerfield Beach.  On Saturday, a hiring event will be held at the Holiday Inn located at 480 Boynton Beach Boulevard in Boynton Beach, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

On Monday, applications and interviews for positions will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott, at 620 N. University Drive in Coral Springs.

All hiring events are being held between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. and between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

ALDI is hiring for its Lauderdale Lakes, Deerfield Beach, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs and Delray Beach stores.

For those hired, ALDI said store manager trainee positions pay $20 per hour, shift managers make between $10 and $13.50 per hour and cashiers will be paid $10.

There are a few requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older to apply
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be available to work anytime between 6am and 10pm
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Management experience preferred for Manager Trainees
  • Drug Screening and background check
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds required

Part time staff working at least 20 hours a week receives full health insurance, dental coverage and 401K, the company said.

Typically discount grocery stores are smaller, have few brand names and shoppers have to bag their own groceries. And while they may not have fancy bakeries or deli counters, shoppers can find items like canned vegetables for under 50-cents.

ALDI is also able to keep prices low by selling private label brands meaning the brands are specific to those stores.

ALDI has more than 1,100 stores in 31 states.
