U2 Concert To Create Traffic Nightmare

MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4) - If you don't have tickets for Wednesday night's U2 360 concert at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens you'll probably want to avoid the area at all costs.

A record crowd is expected at the stadium as more than 73,000 tickets have been sold. Those with tickets have been asked to arrive early and carpool if possible. Parking for General Admission Field Tickets opened at 6 a.m. and regular parking will open at 4 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.

"Unlike a football game when fans arrive early to tailgate, concert goers usually arrive close to show time. In order to avoid long traffic delays and ensure parking availability on our stadium lots, we're encouraging fans to try to get here before 6:30 p.m.," said Todd Boyan, Sr. Vice President of Operations for Sun Life Stadium.

Drivers not going to the show have been asked to avoid the Stadium area, which includes the Florida Turnpike between the Golden Glades interchange and Griffin Road, and University Drive between SR 826 and Miramar Parkway, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again from 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
