Brickell Execs Jailed For A Good Cause

MIAMI (CBS4) - Welcome to jail.

On Wednesday select business leaders in Brickell were rounded up, charged, tried and convicted on numerous counts of kindness to help out a great cause.

It was the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association's "Executive Lock Up" where local businessmen and women volunteered to go behind bars in order to raise money for their bail.

Money raised during the event will go benefit local kids and adults living with neuromuscular diseases like Gabriel Vergara

"That's our burning desire to find a cure and a treatment for this devastating disease," said Vergara.

The 'jail cells' the executives were locked in were located in Brickell's Capital Grill, certainly not a bad place to do time. To be released, each 'prisoner' had to raise $3,200 in bail – the amount it takes to send four children to MDA Summer Camp for a week.

But the MDA needs more than just donations.

The annual MDA Labor Day Telethon will be aired on CBS4'S sister station MY-33 on Sunday, September 4th. So make sure you tune in and of course donate!
