Electronics Chain To Open 10 Stores In South Florida

MIAMI (CBS4) - A popular appliance and electronics superstore chain is about to give South Florida's Best Buy and Brandsmart stores a little competition.

hhgreg plans to open 10 stores in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties this summer.

Workers are already setting up the vast merchandise. But what can consumers expect?

"What makes us different is that great price but also the personal experience that you're going to see," CEO Dennis L. May said. "We carry over 110 flat panel televisions, we carry over 400 appliances and we offer same day delivery. So if you come in and pick out an appliance today, when we're open, we'll be able to have that product in your home tonight."

The company has already hired 600 people and is still taking applications.

Eric Roche of Miami joined the company in November

"It's a great opportunity for different people to get a job and provide for their family," he said.

The stores expected to open include:

Ft. Lauderdale: 1750 N Federal Hwy US 1, Ft. Lauderdale
Pembroke Pines: 11810 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines
Sawgrass: 12300 West Sunrise Blvd., Sunrise

Aventura: 19925 Biscayne Blvd., Aventura (just north of the Aventura Mall)
Hialeah: 3695 West 20th Ave., Hialeah
Pinecrest:
11905 S. Dixie Hwy., Miami

Boca Raton: 20841 State Rd. 7, Boca Raton
Wellington: 10560 Forest Hill Blvd., East Wellington
West Palm Beach: 1801 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach

Treasure Coast Mall: 3066 NW Federal Hwy., Jensen Beach (Martin County)

All ten stores are scheduled to open simultaneously on July 14th.

Last month the company announced that they would be hiring at least 600 people to work as commissioned sales associates, warehouse staff and customer service merchandiser positions.  Positions are still available and those interested can click here to apply online.

hhgregg currently operates 180 stores in Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
