Marlins Look To End Losing Streak Tuesday Night

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Florida Marlins will try to snap their 11-game losing streak Tuesday night when they throw Javier Vazquez against the Los Angeles Angels at Sun Life Stadium.

The Marlins are 1-19 in the month of June and haven't been competitive in most of those games. The losing streak helped Edwin Rodriguez decide to resign and the Marlins turned to Jack McKeon, 80, to try and right the ship.

McKeon made an immediate impact on the Fish when he benched shortstop Hanley Ramirez for not giving a full effort during pre-game activities. Ramirez has been a huge disappointment for the Marlins this season, hitting just .200 for the season with 4 home runs and 17 RBI's.

For a career .306 hitter, Ramirez appears to have given up during the season and his poor effort and ego could lead him out of South Florida before the trade deadline hits later in the season. McKeon said Ramirez and the rest of the team can either do it his way or no way.

Vazquez has been a huge disappointment for the Marlins after being brought in to bring a veteran presence to the rotation. He has notched just 3 wins and hasn't won a game in a month. His ERA of 6.85 is only reinforcing the notion he has nothing left in the tank.

The Marlins also hope to get Mike Stanton back into the lineup Wednesday. Stanton has been battling an eye infection for the last three games, but the slugger said he should be in the lineup on Wednesday.
