Missing Woman’s Best Friend Recalls Conversation Before Disappearance

HALLANDALE BEACH (CBS4) – The news that investigators are searching a Northwest Miami-Dade field for the possible remains of Lynda Meier, whose been missing over a year, is especially painful to her best friend of twenty two years.

“I don’t want it to be bad news, I don’t think I’m ready for that, I’m not,” sobbed Sharon Moses Solano.

Solano owns a hair salon in Hallandale Beach.  She keeps a picture of Lynda Meier behind her desk.

“Everyday I come in, I see her face, her pretty face and I think how could anyone hurt her?” said Solano.

Solano was one of the last people to speak to Meier before she disappeared June 4, 2010.

The night before Meier was in her salon for an appointment.

Solano remembers telling Meier, “Why are you in such a rush? And she said ‘I have a date with someone I met. It’s just lunch.’  He was a chiropractor.  But for some reason i didn’t believe her.”

Solano has been a constant in Meier’s life, helping her through an abusive relationship.  She says she was terrified when she learned of Monday’s search.

“I got a phone call.  I fell apart in front of everybody,” recalled Solano. “The worst tragedy is to outlive your children.  I feel so sad for her mother, I really do.”

Police have named Antoine Kennedy and Dallas King as persons of interest in Meier’s disappearance.  Kennedy is a longtime friend of Meier.

Kennedy talked with Meier on the phone before she vanished.  Police say King bought a cell phone and attempted to use Meier’s debit and credit cards.

But Solano says Lynda Meier thought of Kennedy as a brother.

“I just know how much she loved him.  He was part of her family,” said Solano.

Investigators will only say they are searching the area of 207th street and Douglas Road based on new information and the analysis of old evidence.
