Woman Hospitalized After Rollover Wreck

MIAMI (CBS4) – A female driver was rushed to the hospital in serious condition after a serious rollover accident shutdown the 79th Street Causeway early Friday morning.

According to Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a red sedan was heading westbound on the 79th Street Causeway when she lost control and slammed into a palm tree around 3:25 a.m.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to rescue the 27-year-old woman, who was trapped inside the vehicle.

She was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in Serious condition.

A baby car seat was found outside the vehicle and rescue crews searched the area but didn't find anything. The driver was the only person in the car.

The 79th Street Causeway was shut down for about an hour but has since reopened.
