Air Carrier Canceling Ft. Lauderdale/Savannah Flights

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) – Do you remember the line from the movie “Field Of Dreams” in which voices tell the Kevin Costner’ character that “if you build it, he will come” – often misquoted as “if you build it, they will come”?

Well, apparently one airline found out that’s not quite true.

Last November Allegiant Air started offering nonstop flights from Savannah to Ft. Lauderdale. The discount carrier has announced that it discontinuing the service after July 24th, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

Allegiant president Andrew Levy said the flight is being canceled “due to lack of market demand.”

Las Vegas-based Allegiant is part of a travel company which also offers flight and hotel room combination deals.
