"Powerful You" Exhibit Is A Powerful Teaching Tool

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - It's called "Powerful You" - a new high-tech, interactive exhibit at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science which teaches children and adults about health, the human body and the technology used to keep us healthy.

"I think it's amazing because you get to learn all these things about your body and stuff like that," said 10-year old Marisa Cerreta.

The exhibit features four different interactive zones which highlight body performance, the heart muscle, medical care and medical technology.

"This exhibit is awesome and there a lot of hands on stuff for kids to enjoy and read," said Michael Aguinaga who is the exhibit's coordinator. "There are a lot of small facts they may not know."

There are more than a dozen hands on activity stations where kids and adults can learn in an interactive way.

"Everything is my favorite," said Cerreta.

From a simulation of an impaired driver behind the wheel to using a surf board to test your balance, there's a lesson about health everywhere you turn.

"They have fun doing it," said Christen Valeraga who is a teacher at Sunset Palm Elementary. "Learning and having fun is important."

The Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science is open daily. For more information on the "Powerful You" exhibit log onto www.mods.org.
