Carter Tapped To Fill Broward's Interim Superintendent's Job

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - The Broward School District's long time chief operations officer has been named interim superintendent, despite the fact that he didn't bother to apply for the job the second time around.

Donnie Carter, who has been the operations chief for more than a decade, originally submitted his application last month, according to the Sun-Sentinel. After learning that having a master's degree was a job requisite, he withdrew his name from consideration even though he has more than two decades of administrative experience under his proverbial belt.

The School Board re-opened application process after dropping the master's requirement. Carter did not apply, and neither did anyone else.

With less than a month to go until current Superintendent James Notter leaves office, the School Board tapped Carter to fill the interim slot until a permanent replacement can be found, hopefully by the fall.
