Man Dies After Being Thrown Off Car

MIAMI – (CBS4) – A party in Southwest Miami-Dade over the weekend left one man dead and another in jail.

Witnesses told police that about 10 p.m. on May 29th, Juan Perez had been drinking heavily. He later got into an argument with some of the guests at the private party on the 12800 block of Southwest 17th Street and decided to drive off on his 2011 Toyota Yaris.

One of the guests tried to stop him from leaving because he was concerned that Perez was too drunk to drive, according to the Miami-Dade police report.

Perez simply accelerated causing the man to get stuck on the hood of his Yaris, police said. Perez increased his speed to about 40 mph even as the man remained on his hood, police said, and when Perez came to a stop at an intersection it caused the man’s body to be thrown about 68 feet away near the intersection of Southwest 127th Court and 16th Street.

The man, whom police did not identify, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Perez, 35, is charged with vehicular manslaughter. He appeared before a bond court judge Tuesday who ordered him held on $7,500 bond and, if he is able to post the bond, he will be held on house arrest with total lockdown.

The sad thing is NOBODY should try to stop anyone from trying to leave a place when the person is so drunk they don’t know what they are doing that is why 911 should be used because the cops will handle such a thing and then NOBODY would have been killed.

Trying to be the good guy just doesn’t work out well as we can see.

What a dumb idiot! I feel sorry for the victim’s family who will have a huge funeral expense, due to some moron’s stupidity.Mr. Perez should be sentenced to at least 50 years in prison, so he can’t drink and drive and when he is released from prison he’ll be so old nobody will care about him!!
I have no mercy on drunk drivers who with their irresponsible behaviour kill innocent people!!
