Hot 2011 Swimsuit Trends, Bold Colors & Ruffles
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - Stylists and photographers were in a controlled frenzy recently at Miami Beach's Standard Hotel in a high fashion swimsuit shoot for the upcoming issue of Ocean Drive magazine.
The special insert in the July issue is in conjunction with Mercedes Benz Fashion Week SWIM; four days of fashion shows on Miami Beach where some of the top designers in the world will showcase some of this year's hottest swimwear fashion.
"We've got all the best trends and it corresponds with Swim Week which is a big deal every year," said Ocean Drive's Editor in Chief Suzy Buckley.
So what are the hot trends for 2011? First off, color blocking with 'chunks' of bold colors to create a slimming look.
"We are always going to be focusing on trends that make a woman's body look good, so color blocking is always good," said Buckley.
Another hot trend will be "What I like to call mosaic print," said stylist Nicole Tarfur," We're talking great bold colors. There's a bit of a Moroccan feel in the swimwear."
And then there are ruffles – ruffles, ruffles, ruffles. Just add a great pair of shades and a sun hat and you'll be ready for any pool or beach party.
Another hot trend, believe it or not, will be a blast from the past; whether a one piece or a bikini, the suits have a black and white retro feel.
The Ocean Drive Magazine swim insert will come out July 1st. The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week SWIM kicks off on South Beach on July 14th.
