MIAMI (CBS4)- The Miami-Dade school district named its top principal Wednesday night.
The school district selected Sean Gallagan as their top principal. Gallagan works at George T. Baker Aviation School, the only public school in Miami-Dade County authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration to offer technical training to students.
Gallagan is not only an experienced principal, he is an experienced pilot.
He has been crucial in building community partnerships with local businesses. Gallagan recently helped secure a $6 million donation to the school in the form of a jet from American Airlines, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald.
“Sean is a fantastic, inspirational leader in a nontraditional school that connects students to a future world of work,” Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said.
Carvalho also praised Gallagan for his humanitarian work. Last year, the principal helped secure an airplane to carry Carvalho and a team of Miami-Dade educators to Haiti in the immediate aftermath the earthquake.
A school district veteran, Gallagan recently completed his doctorate in leadership and education at Barry University.
