Charges Dropped Against Radio Host

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Prosecutors have dropped all charges against a radio commentator who was arrested while questioning Congressman Allen West (R-FL) in Fort Lauderdale on April 26.

Nicole Sandler was arrested and removed from the town hall meeting in handcuffs after she tried to ask the GOP congressman a question. There were rules stipulating that no questions could be asked directly from the audience.

Irony not withstanding of holding a town hall but not allowing questions; the liberal activist was charged with trespassing and spent the night in the Broward County Jail.

Sandler, who used to host a show on Air America, told CBS4 last month that she went to the meeting in an attempt to question West about his support for cuts to Medicare and Social Security benefits.

"I want to know that when I'm 65, I'm not going to have to worry about paying exorbitant medical bills. I want to know that my country is there for me," she said Wednesday. "But no. It's about taking care of the wealthy and let everyone else fend for themselves."

Sandler claimed she was maced while in the county jail after questioning why her release took so long. She is said to be considering a civil suit.
