QB Tate Forcier Won't Join UM

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Former Michigan quarterback Tate Forcier is now a former University of Miami transfer.

According to the Associated Press, Forcier broke off communications with the Hurricanes nearly six weeks ago due to "undisclosed personal matters" that were overshadowing football.

Forcier was going to have to battle to make the roster this year at "the U." Miami returns quarterbacks Jacory Harris and Stephen Morris. The Canes also added former Memphis Tigers quarterback Ryan Williams to the team after Williams decided to transfer.

Williams would have to sit out until 2012 unless the NCAA grants a waiver saying otherwise.

Forcier's career has been much publicized for a quarterback who has thrown 17 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 20 games for the Wolverines and has a 9-11 career won-loss record. He was declared academically ineligible at the end of his final season with the Wolverines.

Forcier never enrolled at Miami and said he considered Kansas State, Washington, Arizona, and Montana before settling on the Canes.
