Fuel Mix-Up Left Miami Drivers Fuming

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) – More than a dozen South Florida drivers were fuming Tuesday night after they say they got some bad gasoline at a gas station, causing their cars to stall shortly after filling up.

The drivers say after gassing their cars at the Westar gas station on Southwest 117 Street and Southwest 67th Avenue they only got a couple blocks before the engines stalled out.

The gas station believes the gas in the tanks was somehow mixed with water when it was picked up at Port Everglades.

In all, about 20 cars were damaged.

Police are investigating the incident.

“somehow mixed with water” .. well, that sounds like someone got an idea to steal some gas and replace it with water. Thief! Hope they get prosecuted.

Port of Miami has no terminals for gasoline. CBS should know that after all these years. Try Port Everglades.

  3. Jimbo99 says:

Water doesn’t compress. I’d make Westar replace the engine.

thats why this smart good looking Irish guy pays a few extra cents more and buys from BP Gas Station or Mobil Gas. Trying to save 3 cents have now cost them thousands and years trying to colllect from a broke gas station.

THIS IS NOT NEW…THERE ARE MANY MANY LAW SUITS PENDING AGAINST RACE TRACK FOR ALLOWING MORE WATER THEN FED GUIDELINES ALLOW…RACE TRAC CONTINUES TO MESS UP PEOPLES CARS BUT IT HAPPENS SLOWLY AND YET PEOPLE STILL LINE UP TO BUY IT BECAUSE ITS CHEAPER…WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AND IS LEGAL UP TO A CERTAIN EXTENT….

GAS TANKS AT SERVICE STATIONS ALL HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF WATER ON THE BOTTOM BUT WHEN U GET GREEDY INDIVIDUALS LIKE YOU GET AT WEST STAR THIS IS WHAT YOU GET…..ISNT THIUS THE SAME OWNERS WHIO TAKE FOOD STAMPS ON THE SLY FOR GAS PURCHASES? CHOOSE YOUR GAS WISELY AND NOT BY THE LOWEST PRICE…..

    1. Phil Landers says:

@Vincent You are a rube. Ever since the state of Florida started the 10 percent ethanol blend there can be NO water because instead of allowing it to sit on the bottom the alcohol causes the water to blend in with the gasoline. Stop pontificating about things you know nothing about and quit using caps lock to try to make yourself look important. Especially when you are DEAD WRONG! LoL!

  10. Phil Landers says:

There are only 9 different vendors of fuel in Port Everglades. Hess, Marathon, BP, Mobil, Chevron, Citgo, Shell and Valero. Westar is just a name on a building and their fuel is no different from any of the aforementioned 8. This situation was probably caused by either water in the fuel or water in the tank being blended during the agitation of the delivery. The driver is supposed to test for this before and after the delivery. Obviously he did not and is either getting suspended or terminated for this incident.

I spend 300 dollars repaid my gas pump…. Plssss
