911 Call: TV Set Fell On North Miami Toddler

NORTH MIAMI (CBS4) - A North Miami toddler was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital after a television set reportedly fell on him.

Police spokesman Major Neal Cuevas said they received a 911 call from a man who said that a television set had fallen on his 23-month old son in their home at 560 NW 125th Street. When police and paramedics arrived the boy was not breathing.

"Yo siento muy mal," (I feel bad)," said Austria Rivera the boy's grand aunt.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed the boy to the hospital; by the time they arrived the child was alert and breathing on his own.

Cuevas said they have yet to confirm whether TV set, which he described as an older model, had indeed fallen on the boy.

"One of the televisions that we are looking at, that's described as an older box type," said Cuevas.  "Front to back, about 32-35 inches wide, it was laying on the ground."

Police say the child had severe injuries and was listed in critical condition.
