POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) – A Lauderhill woman was taken into custody after she allegedly flashed some kids waiting at a school bus stop inPompano Beach.
CBS4 caught up with one witness who said she saw the woman “chasing a little boy up 27th Avenue.”
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, around 8:15 a.m. they received word that a woman was removing articles of her clothing in front of a group of kids waiting for their school bus in the 400 block of NW 27th Avenue.
When a deputy arrived, several people pointed out 35-year-old Maribel Gomez.
A 10-year-old boy told the deputy he saw Gomez’s breasts and she reportedly asked him, “Are you ready?”
CBS4’s Peter D’Oench caught up with witness Simone Lanot. She said of Gomez, “She was chasing the little boy up 27th Avenue. The boy was trying to get away from her. She kept telling him to come here and told him to stop running so she could come and get him. That’s very crazy. You shouldn’t be doing that to a little kid like that. I’m glad they arrested her.”
Gomez was arrested and charged with one count of lewd/lascivious exhibition.
Residents of the neighborhood told D’Oench that they were very familiar with her.
During her bond hearing her defense attorney argued that breasts are not sexual organs and therefore the charge did not apply. The judge agreed and the charged was changed to disorderly conduct and bail was set at $3,500.
Gomez, however, had another case pending before the court – she was charged with possession of cocaine and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on that charge. The judge decided to revoke bond on the possession charge which meant Gomez would be staying behind bars. He also ordered that Gomez undergo a mental health evaluation.
A records check shows Gomez has been arrested before for aggravated assault, battery, disorderly conduct and possession of cocaine.
