TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) – It is supposed to be a great weekend, weather-wise, for Mother’s Day, and what better way to take advantage than to visit one of South Florida’s state parks. If you go on Mother’s Day, you could save half for Mom, and everyone who joins her.
“We are pleased to offer this special discount for state park visitors who take the time to honor their mothers this weekend,” said DEP’s Florida State Parks Director Donald Forgione. “If she is an outdoors person, history buff or would just enjoy some relaxation, a state park is the perfect place for a memorable Mother’s Day.”
Florida’s state parks can offer mom a stroll through ornamental gardens, space to bask in the sun on sandy white beaches, a shaded trail to spot wildlife and native plants or a quiet picnic bench to curl up with her favorite book. In the Keys, Bahaia Honda State Park is regularly votes one of the best beaches in the nation.
Half off admission is valid for up to eight people in one car during regular park hours on Sunday, May 8, 2011 only and excludes Skyway Fishing Pier State Park.
Florida has 160 parks, 700,000 acres and 100 miles of beaches, visit soon and often to enjoy Florida’s natural treasures. For more information about Florida’s state parks, visit www.FloridaStateParks.org
