Sheriff: Keys' Woman Defrauded Mom For Breast Job

STOCK ISLAND (CBS4) - A lower Keys woman is accused of using her mother's name and social security number to set up a number of credit card accounts which she used to go on a shopping spree which included getting a breast augmentation.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said 34-year old Miriam Garmas' free spending days came to an end when her mother figured out what was going on after reviewing her credit report and called the authorities.

Sheriff's Detective Juan Llera discovered that Garmas had not only paid $4,200.00 for breast augmentation on a credit line in her mother's name, the Stock Island woman had also set up and used credit lines at Victoria's Secret, Old Navy, Dell, Wal-Mart, Credit One Bank and Chase Bank. In all, Garmas reportedly stole $10 thousand before she was caught.

Garmas was arrested Monday and charged with seven counts of fraud.
