Miami Man Arrested For Posing As A Police Officer

MIAMI (CBS4) - A Miami man is facing serious charges after police say he tried to pull over a motorist while posing as a police officer.

Daniel Alberto Barros, 22, was arrested early Monday as he tried to flee from police.

According to the arrest affidavit,  Barros was driving a car outfitted with red and blue lights when he attempted to pull over a woman in the area of Southwest 137 Avenue and 26th Street.

Barros allegedly pulled aside the victim, flashed a gold badge, and through an open window, said, "Why are you speeding?"

The victim, who has not been identified, told police she did not believe Barros was a police officer and called her stepfather, who is a police officer.

Police say the victim's stepfather met the victim's car at the gas station and attempted to apprehend Barros, who tried to flee the scene.

The victim's stepfather spotted Barros hiding in a bank's drive thru, authorities say. Barros reportedly fled again, but was held at gunpoint by the victim's stepfather until Miami-Dade Police officers arrived and arrested Barros.

Barros is charged with falsely impersonating a police officer, prohibited use of lights, unlawful use of a police badge, and resisting an officer without violence
