Miami Police Looking For Family Dollar Robbers

MIAMI (CBS4) -  Masked gunmen struck a Family Dollar store in Miami for the third time in the past 16 months. And this time, it was a terrifying ordeal for some children inside the store, including a 6-year-old girl who hid from the gunmen.

Surveillance tape from the store on 36th St. at N.W. 10th Ave. shows the gunmen entering the store and waving their guns at store employees and witnesses. The tape shows at least one child running in fear down an aisle to hide from the gunmen.

One store customer who was there with her 6-year-old niece spoke to CBS4's Peter D'Oench, but did not want to show her face because she is afraid of the two young gunmen who are on the loose.

"I was scared," she said. "I didn't know where my niece was. I shouted out for her. I didn't hear her. I yelled at the gunman don't hurt her. Please don't hurt her. She is only 6-years-old. He said he was not going to hurt her."

No one was injured, but police are alarmed. Someone could have been seriously injured or even killed authorities said.

"That's our concern. The children who were in the store," Det. Keandra Simmons said. "They could have been hurt. We need to find these guys and take them into custody."

The aunt said her daughter is alright, but she has been having nightmares since the incident happened at 8:30 p.m. on April 7th.

Alcina Aochange will never forget the faces of the gunmen, even though they were wearing masks. One man is seen very clearly without his mask on the surveillance tape.

"He pointed a gun at me," said Aochange, who runs a fruit stand just outside the store. "He pointed it right at me. But I have the support of Jesus, and Jesus in me, so I was not scared."

Police have a limited description of the suspects. One man was wearing a black cap with a grim reaper logo on it.

It's not known if the criminals had any connection to the previous two robberies at the same store last year. There was an arrest in one of those cases.

Detectives told CBS4 they would be in contact with North Miami Police because of a rash of robberies in the past few years at one Dollar Store in particular.

If you have any information about the Family Dollar robbery, police ask you call the Miami Police Department's Robbery Unit at 305-603-6370 or Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
