MIAMI (CBS4) – Miami-Dade police have identified two men who were shot and killed outside of a Liberty City apartment complex.

Police say the suspect, armed with an apparent assault rifle, shot Torrey Brown, 31, and Darren Tyler, 19, as both stood outside the Lincoln Fields Apartment Complex around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

One man died on the scene on a playground at the apartment complex, the second man was transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital where he died.

A large group of neighbors, and apparent family members showed up to the scene grieving over the deaths of their loved ones.

Police hope that those upset by this crime will come forward and serve as witnesses to catch the shooter and put him behind bars. The shooter got away and is considered armed and dangerous.

If you know anything about these murders, please call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.

  • Just an Observation

It boils down to two things most fo the time; lifestyle choices and who you associate with. Then you have the innocent victims caught in the crossfire who have nothing to do with the shooters or their intended target.

What?no one to blame but themselves now? They cant complain about the police this time.Must be some more law abiding citizens that got shot.

I FAULT THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE WERE YOU ALL?????????

IT’s a SHAME our children are not SAFE ON THE PLAYGROUND………

It’s a shame that even our playgrounds are not SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE WAS THE POLICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON’T YOU ALL HAVE A UNIT THAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE PROTECTING AGAINST THESE TYPES OF CRIMES??????????

You would think there is a unit assigned to protect the Housing Projects because a lot goes on there……… I’m not putting anyone down who lives there because I PERSONNALLY knew one of the young men who lost his life in this tragedy.

I Fault the police FOR NOT STEPPING UP THEIR GAME and doing more towards protecting the children in these communities. They are people who also deserve to be protected and treated fairly rather than being ridiculed and looked upon as people who don’t have a chance towards having a better life. I FAULT THE POLICE.

I’M TIRED OF SEEING community pray meetings on TV when young black men are murderd. We need to see more POLICE PRESENCE and POLICE INVOLVEMENT in a POSITIVE WAY with the children in the INNER CITY.

TELL ME SOMETHING???????? What programs have been implemented besides FOOTBALL that is working towards having a positivie impact on these childrens lives????????? Tell me ONE ??????

I don’t care what area they may be in beit in the area of Liberty City, Little Haiti, Little Havana, Miami Lakes, Miami Springs, Miami Gardens, Opa-Locka, Hialeah, Goulds, Florida City, Homestead, Richmond Heights, North Miami, North Miami Beach this tragedy happened at a playground and it could have be yours. THINK ABOUT IT…………
