Tourists Can Go 'Topless' On New Miami Tour

MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – There's a new ride in town that gives tourists an open-air view of the Magic City's hot-spots.

On Monday, five double-decker buses joined Miami's line-up of tourist transportation.

The giant two-story buses, the top deck being open-air or topless, were introduced by Gray Line Miami, along with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

"Here's Gray Line making a significant investment. Why... because we're one of the top destinations in the world," said William Talbert, Presdient and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Talbert said last year Miami and Miami Beach had a record breaking year for tourism business. This year he believe we could do even better.

"The number of visitors continues to climb," he said. "The economies in South America are absolutely booming. Europe is starting to come back. New York is booming. So we're doing very well."

It's a surge that he believes will make Miami and Miami Beach.. Gray Lines most profitable cities for its double decker buses by next year.

The tour buses will run two loops, around the beach and the city with 20 stops, and will allow guests the hop-on/hop-off option.

The hop-on/hop-off option allows passengers to spend extra time, if desired, at a location because buses are scheduled to arrive at the stops at 15 minute intervals. Double-decker riders can then re-board at any of the stops.

Stops include South Beach, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and Little Havana.

"Its a hop on hop off all day long," said Julia Conway, Vice President of Gray Line Buses. "For the two loops you can see all that Miami has to offer and have lunch at one place, get back on the bus go shopping at another place. We believe its a great value."

Buses run seven days a week between the hours of 9am to 6pm. You can catch one of them at any of the Gray Line bus stops every 30 minutes. A ticket for a three hour tour of Miami and Miami Beach is $49.

But there are slightly cheaper options.
