Plantation Navy Pilot Killed In Plane Crash
(LEMOORE, CA) - (CBS/AP) A South Florida Navy pilot was killed in California when his plane crashed during a training exercise.
Lt. Matthew Ira Lowe of Plantation died, along with Lt. Nathan Hollingsworth Williams of Oswego, New York when their NYF/A-18F Super Hornet went down during a routine training flight Wednesday.
Lowe was 33, and the pilot of the jet. Williams, 28, was a weapons service officer.
The jet crashed in a grassy field about half a mile from Naval Air Station in Lemoore, about 30 miles from Fresno.
Navy spokeswoman Melinda Larson says the incident is under investigation.
