Oakland Park Man OK After Being Hit By Car

OAKLAND PARK (CBS4) - Wood replaces the glass doors that once stood in front of the Kwik Stop on NE 38th Street and 3rd Avenue in Oakland Park.

The doors were smashed after a car plows right through them – hitting a man as it raced inside.

"The guy knocked me over," explained Guillermo Ramirez.

Standing on the side of the store, Ramirez tells CBS4's Ted Scouten how the car just plowed right into him – knocking him over as he walked in front of the store.

Surveillance video shows it happening.  It also shows as quickly as he's knocked down, he's up again, appearing dazed, wondering what just happened.

"It hurt right here," he said, pointing to his bandaged hand.  He said it also bruised his hip and foot.  Luckily, he wasn't seriously hurt.

Customers inside the store were lucky too.  It's usually very crowded, but no one was hurt, just scared by the crash.

"I hear like a big explosion," explained store clerk Alex Dasouqy, "like when the car hit the store and I look and the car was inside the store."

And here's where it gets strange, one of the men from the car was inside the store – the other, the driver, was walking around outside talking on his phone moments after the crash.  But then, on surveillance video, we watch him vanish.

"He was talking by the phone and then he ran away," explained Dasouqy.

The other guy took off too.  When police got there – he simply walked away, leaving the car behind.

And if that's not weird enough – this isn't the first time something like this happened. In fact, just one year ago, it was nearly the same story.

"You know this is not the first time," said Dasouqy.  "It's the second time.  The first time was like a drunk guy, he hit and he run, the same thing."

Sheriff's deputies are now searching for both men from this latest crash.
