MIAMI (CBS4) – Florida Governor Rick Scott has been in office for three months and is facing growing dissent from both sides of the aisle.

Now, a Democratic-leaning pollster has found that Scott’s popularity has plummeted and Floridians they surveyed have a large case of buyer’s remorse.

According to Public Policy Polling, only 32 percent of Floridians approve of Scott’s job performance. More than half, 55 percent, disapprove of his job performance through the first three months.

Republicans favor Scott by a thirty point margin, 57-27. But, PPP found that 81 percent of Democrats disapprove of Scott. PPP found that Scott’s 23 point drop in approval rating since he took office makes him the least popular currently serving governor PPP has polled.

PPP’s poll found that Scott would overwhelmingly lose in a rematch to his Democratic opponent last November, Alex Sink. Sixteen percent who said they voted for Scott would switch sides, the number includes 21 percent of all Republicans.

Sink would also take the independent vote by a margin of 61-29, according to PPP. Exit polling last November found Scott won independent voters by eight points, according to the poll.

As a result, Scott would overwhelmingly lose in a rematch to Sink, 56-37. 16% of those who say they voted for him would switch sides, as would 21% of all Republicans.

Sink wins the independent vote by a whopping 61-29 margin, while exit polls had Scott winning them by eight points in November.

Elsewhere in the poll, 59 percent said gay couples should either be allowed to legally marry or at least form civil unions.

The poll also asked respondents about former Governor Charlie Crist. The independent governor received a favorable rating by a plurality of voters, 46-42, inside the margin of error for the poll.

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent.
