MIAMI (CBS4) – Two men were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital on Wednesday morning after they were hit by a car near an Allapattah park.

“This impact was so severe that he actually crashed into the two of them, pushed them through a wrought iron fence,” Carroll said. “One person was taken about thirty feet and was thrown to the side of the parking lot and into the shrubs. The other was carried another twenty feet where he came to rest right next to the iron gate that he hit.”

According to witness accounts the force of the impact pushed the men through an iron fence, both men were dragged about 50 feet before their bodies were thrown from the vehicle.

Miami police spokesman Det. Willie Moreno said one of the men, 43-years old, was listed in critical condition; the other man described as being in his 50′s was in serious condition, both of his legs were broken.

Moreno said the driver remained on the scene and surrendered to police. He was questioned, but was not arrested.
