Time To Party On Calle Ocho

MIAMI (CBS4) - MIAMI - (CBS4) – Thousands will hit Miami's Southwest 8th on Sunday for South Florida's largest block party.

The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana will host the 33rd annual Calle Ocho Street Festival on SW 8th Street between Sw 11th Avenue and SW 27th Avenue.

This year's event will feature 13 stages including a country music stage at SW 12th Avuenue. In addition to the music, what festival will be complete with delicious fair food and bear. The Calle Ocho Street Festival begins at noon and ends at 7 p.m.

To accommodate the festival a number of roads in the area will be closed to traffic.

Eastbound traffic on SW 8th Street from SW 27 Avenue to SW 11 Avenue will be detoured north or southbound on SW 27 Avenue.

Miami-Dade Transit buses which normally travel along SW 8th Street will be detoured.
SW 7th Street will remain open westbound until SW 8th Avenue. At SW 8th Avenue, westbound traffic on SW 7th Street will be detoured north and southbound on SW 8th Avenue.

Residents that live in the area will be allowed access on a "local traffic only" basis to SW 7th Street, on the north side or SW 9th Street, on the south side.

SW 8th Street will reopen for traffic by 5:00 A.M. on Monday, March 14, 2011.

Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes, if they need to travel in the vicinity.
