MIAMI (CBS4) – The Florida Panthers continued their annual fire sale of the roster Monday by trading defenseman Dennis Wideman to the Washington Capitals for prospect Jake Hauswirth and a third-round pick in the upcoming draft.
Wideman has played for three teams in the NHL including the Panthers. He has career totals of: 55 goals, 143 assists, and 325 penalty minutes. For the Panthers this season, Wideman had nine goals and 24 assists.
The 23-year-old Hauswirth spent the 2010-2011 season in the ECHL. He plays center and had 10 goals and four assists in 37 games with the South Carolina Stingrays.
