Report: Hocutt May Be Heading To Texas Tech

MIAMI (CBS4) -University of Miami athletic director Kirby Hocutt may be on his way out.

Hocutt was in Texas Wednesday to reportedly interview for the athletic director position at Texas Tech University, according to CBSMiami.com news partner the Miami Herald.

Hocutt has been with UM since 2008 and most recently fired football coach Randy Shannon and hired his replacement, Al Golden. Hocutt has been in charge of a once powerful football team that has fallen on tough times and is a shell of its once powerful self.

Hocutt is originally from Texas and is regarded as a young star in the sports administration world, according to the Herald.

Texas Tech would not confirm or deny anything related to Hocutt including whether or not the athletic director position had been offered to Hocutt.

A UM official told the Herald it was clear Texas Tech wanted Hocutt, but that the situation was unresolved as of Thursday morning.
