Police Hunt For Inmate Who Escaped South Miami Hospital In SUV
SOUTH MIAMI (CBS4) - A Miami-Dade jail inmate is on the run after stealing an SUV from in front of a hospital. Now police are asking for the public's help so they can put him back behind bars.
South Miami police spokesperson Rene Landa said on Tuesday 46-year old Elie Bensimon was taken to Larkin Community Hospital where he was supposed to be treated for an injury. When they arrived, however, a handcuffed Bensimon reportedly pushed a private security guard, jumped into his silver Ford Explorer and drove off.
Bensimon has been locked up since last March on a number of charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Anyone who spots the private security company's stolen Explorer, license plate number 527 KVG, is asked contact police.
